I Have Tasted, Les Lisby

I was raised in a Christian family and I remember praying to receive the Lord Jesus at the age of eight at a church camp. My parents were seeking Christians and I was too. Just after graduation from high school, I began visiting a Christian group on Saturday nights in a house converted into a meeting place for Christian young people. One night I noticed a book rack in the corner of the room. After the meeting I noticed many books on it but was attracted by and was recommended to purchase a book entitled Twelve Baskets Full by Watchman Nee. I couldn't believe the depth of revelation conveyed and the inspiration received as I read through the book. The following week I purchased another book and eventually bought about four books. I felt enriched as I read through each one.

Much time has passed since then. I've gotten married, have lived overseas, and am raising two daughters. I have had a broad work history ranging from clerk, company owner, administrator and manager to salesman, the last two and half years selling Christian books. It has been my pleasure to represent the books of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee to store managers and buyers in my region. I would never have dreamed that I would be helping others get a taste of the ministry that I have enjoyed for so many years. In the last few years, I have heard many managers and clerks tell of their respect for this ministry. I have heard managers say, “If the customer wants meat, I point them to Watchman Nee.” Others have said, “I started this store because of reading books by Watchman Nee.” “He is my spiritual father.” “If Watchman Nee was a friend of Witness Lee, he must be okay.”

I learned that Watchman Nee's co-worker, Witness Lee, was most instrumental in making the writings of Watchman Nee available to us. He was the one who carried Watchman Nee's writings out of Mainland China to Taiwan and preserved the many writings of the truth opened by him. He continued to faithfully speak the things released by Watchman Nee and to open them experientially and practically. The writings of both these brothers have helped me to experience the Lord deeply. As one who is seeking to know the Lord as a wonderful and living person who has done everything to give me a full and complete salvation, and to bring me into God's goal, the books of these Christian brothers delight me.

Because of the supply of the divine life I have received from their ministry, I am no longer just a Christian awaiting heaven. I have been encouraged to enjoy the “now” Christ, the one “who is” in my daily life (Rev. 1:4). He is the Christ who went through a marvelous process and joined Himself with me. He is the Christ who upholds me in difficult times. My Christ is a day-by-day and moment-by-moment supply. I do appreciate the ministry that has brought me into such a close and personal relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
